Warframe Update 22.0: Plains of Eidolon
By DrakeWurrum , July 31, in General. This has been a beef of mine ever since PoE came out: there is no indication to players that the Quills exist, nor is there any kind of direction given towards finding them, leading you to the Amps and Arcanes they provide.
Gear that is essential for Eidolons and Sentients, and will likely matter even more once The New War comes out. When you've performed the right quests to access Quill Onkko, he should contact the player in Cetus on their next visit via comms, of course , and direct said player in the right direction to find the secret Quills Syndicate.
He should message the player like this regularly within Cetus, even if the player leaves and comes back later, up until he actually finds Quill Onkko and finally acquires his Mote Amp. Onkko shouldn't give clear-cut directions or explain the purpose in finding him, to help add to the aesthetic of the enigmatic Quills, and to build the intrigue of the player. The lines should absolutely include the mysterious hints at Onkko's ability to perceive past, present, and future differently from others.
As an opening line: "Now is the time that you find the secret door. Your tale is one of great purpose, yet to be revealed. Was it ever thus? You must seize your destiny. Cetus holds greatness for you.
The idea is to reveal to players that there is some important secret hidden in Cetus, and set them to finding it. Perhaps entering Operator form could reveal some sort of wispy Void energy that shows them generally where to go? The Sacrifice has revealed that many players never even realized Amps were a thing, and I feel this should be corrected before we have Amp-less players fighting in The New War, or even in Tau.
I concur with the general sentiment here - The game needs to signal, or otherwise guide, players to the concept of Operator gear. If the above is too much work, I have an alternative, minimum effort suggestion: Simply mention it in text at the end of the Second Dream that there is Operator gear, and that the player should go out and find it.
Making the player aware that there's something to search for, in game or with google, would be infinitely preferable to what we have now, which is basically "have a friend who's proactive about answering questions that haven't been asked, or find out after failing your way through the Sacrifice. I completely disagree There are a lot of threads that deal with similar things DE can't be holding your hand, leading you into the right direction, telling you to watch your step, go here, do that Sometimes you simply have to explore.
Sometimes things are right infront of you and you don't realize it because you don't take a few more steps forward. By exploring Cetus they'd find this path that leads to a door, a door that doesn't open I mean Just that detail is enough help for the player And even if for some weird reason Some people even bother to explain the whole thing to you There are white markings on the rocks that should catch anyone's attention! I don't understand how people find this difficult.
So basically, there are already enough hints, and all you should do is pay attention and explore. I don't think Cetus looks cool. I think it looks like a fish market, and a poor little village. My mini map already "holds my hand" and gives me the places of interest within it. Why would I want to explore it further, much less need to? Why would we assume that every last player because that's how many need to find their amp is actually interested in exploring a fishing village?
A bit of a reach, if you ask me. I've never had to go exploring before, just for the sake of exploring. This isn't the kind of game that particularly promotes it. I don't even have to go exploring on the plains, the REAL zone here. Missions send me where I need to go. At what point should there be a singular item for which I must, somehow, intrinsically know that I must need to explore in order to even realize exists, in a game in which I've never needed to explore in order to discover that something exists?
Something like this is fine for cat statues, but for gameplay functionality? I disagree. Every time, everywhere. Except to find the Quills. For this you use the compelling plot device known as "Wiki". Because seriously now, why would I have spent a couple thousand hours developing the finest war machine ever created in order to explore fishing villages? It is typical of the game that they don't bother telling you where it is or generally explaining a damn thing.
While I do think that the game shouldn't hold your hand ALL the time, I think some nudging in the right direction would be a helpful addition. Nothing as big as "waypoints the place" but just telling you there is more. Some of the changes I'd like to see are:. Then while on Mars, you already know how to use the scanners and that scanning is a thing. And yet this was a problem when the Sacrifice came out. There were plenty of players who had NO idea that Amps existed.
Maybe they weren't following the announcements when PoE came out, maybe they simply weren't paying attention to the right things, maybe they never asked about the eidolons or looked up the fights. For whatever reason, some people didn't know about them.
For something so crucial to Operator gameplay to be a secret and hidden thing that players might not find is very dangerous game design.
My wife had a hard time with the Sacrifice because she only had a Mote Amp when it came time to fight Umbra. She just never cared much about the eidolons, as she'd never been any indication of needing the stronger Amps for a cinematic quest. I can't even imagine how hard it would be with no Amp at all. I personally think The Sacrifice should require the player be an Adherent with the Quills before they can start it In literally every aspect of this game, DE has been improving at giving players direction.
Just because many of us veterans are used to figuring things out on our own, doesn't mean that's how the game SHOULD be designed. Instead of admonishing players who didn't know about Amps for not being better players, chiding them for their lack of perfection, you should realize this is just a freaking game, and games shouldn't be punishing players for not playing it the same way as other players.
I personally think The Sacrifice should require the player be an Adherent with the Quills before they can start it. I actually kind of agree with this Filter the people who are not ready to do the quest yet. If it's so easy The fact that some people miss something so clear makes me wonder how they get through life with such a small capability to pay attention And I'm not complaining about their inability to find the Quills, because it's as easy as asking in region or Cetus chat I'm simply wondering In fact You do find the Quills in the Saya's Vigil quest.
You go to Onkko at the end of the quest, and he gives you your first amp, your mote amp. With that quest It's like You think people say "Oh this Mk1-Braton rifle is good I don't need anything else" and then just go and complain in the forums after they failed to kill higher level enemies because nobody told them that there is a market section where you can buy blueprints for more weapons?
Ok maybe they don't care about eidolons In which case I have to agree with you about the Adherent idea as requirement for the quest. But the thing is Yes it's harder to beat Umbra with just a mote amp but it's not impossible. And in like any other game The same would apply here in Warframe, if you didn't get a more powerful amp and you feel like you can't beat Umbra because you actually can If you don't want to get a new one because you'd have to wait, and you want to finish the quest immediately then you have patience issues So if you're felling punished Then go take a walk and clear your mind Breath, rest, and realize there are worse things.
And please Drake, notice I'm not talking directly to you when I say I'm talking to whoever is having this problem. But anyways Saya's Vigil quest actually leads you to the Quills, at the end. That's when Onkko gives you your mote amp. So I guess you really can't complain And about the first 2 things you said So you just play by doing what the game tells you to do You don't look beyond simply because the game didn't tell you to do so. I get it now You know..
Actually you need to go to konzo and do the personal favor then you need to search for saya after your done with the movie and you need to have the war within done. By the way, I was curious, are operators running aroung somehow obscured from people that did not do main questline? To find The Quills, head to the steps outside the door leading to the Plains in Cetus. Look to the right, past a small hut, and you'll see a semi-hidden second staircase leading to a blue door.
Asked by Grumps I have completed the second dream and war within quests. I stand there and watch other players coming and going from their lair but am not granted access. What am I missing or doing wrong? As i don't use that crapy frame i don't see why i would go in there with umbra.
Where Is Saya In Warframe?
Digital Extremes has been hard at work with the latest update, one of the largest yet for their free-to-play game, and one that has been considered to be the best update to the title yet. Before we begin, I need to make this clear. I decided to jump onto the PC version again recently. The downside about it? I was quick to realize that this was absolutely not for beginning accounts. But it will help a lot when trying to get around this insanely massive map. So having this jetpack equivalent makes your life a bit more fun while trying to explore the world around you. Why might you want it though?
Seek out the Quills

Didn't spend 2 years grinding focus for the stuff I want just for DE to rework the whole thing, and stuff it away in some faction I can't seem to find. If someone could tell me where these "Quills" are, that'd be great. I want my focus nodes back lol.
